[February 19, 2008]  (AP) The California coastline was expected to receive its first rain in over a week on Tuesday. The storm should also bring some snow to the Cascades and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges.

The interior West was expected to remain dry and see continued clear skies.

In the East, clearing skies were anticipated throughout the Southeast, but cloud cover will linger through the Midwest and Northeast. Very cold air was expected, but not a lot of precipitation. Light snow could fall across the region.

Downwind of the Great Lakes, some heavier lake-effect snow could bring substantial accumulations.

The cold air in the north isn't expected to be quite as cold as the region has seen lately, although temperatures in some locations shouldn't rise above 0 degrees.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Monday ranged from a low of minus 17 degrees at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., to a high of 91 degrees at Okeechobee, Fla.
