In the West, rain and high elevation snow were expected in the Four Corners region, moving eastward into the southern Rockies.
A strong Pacific storm was forecast to slam into the West Coast late in the morning, with substantial rain and high elevation snow falling from Oregon to Point Conception. The active weather was then expected to move eastward into the Great Basin and Intermountain West.
The upper Midwest, northern Plains and Northeast were expected to rise into the single digits, 10s and 20s. The Southeast and Southern Plains were forecast to rise into the 60s, 70s and 80s, while the Northwest was likely to see temperatures in the 30s, 40s and 50s.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from minus 35 degrees at Devils Lake, N.D., to 84 degrees at Wink, Texas.
