Lincoln College head basketball
coach B.J. McCullum said it boils down to interpretation of the
rules stating that members be certain of eligibility of their
athletes. "Information has arisen that does not allow us to put
Bobby Hill on the court until further notice. We are working with
the NJCAA and looking into whether or not we may be able to
reinstate Bobby to the team," said McCullum. "I truly feel for
Bobby Hill, as he is the victim in all this, ”
McCullum added. “He is a
first-class individual and a model citizen on campus. He is a fine
person, and I hope that there is a way that this can be put behind
him so that he may continue his college basketball career and his
pursuit of a college degree.”
Lincoln College President John Hutchinson concurred with
McCullum's statement. "This is a sad situation, ”
Hutchinson said. “Bobby Hill
is a conscientious and dedicated student, an upstanding campus
citizen, and a genuinely decent human being. Neither he nor the
men's basketball program at Lincoln College has done anything wrong.
In my judgment, any future ruling of ineligibility would be a
violation of the spirit of the NJCAA regulations. We intend to do
everything in our power to get Bobby back on the court as soon as
possible."
Lincoln College has three remaining games in their season with a
current record of 21-6.
