The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Bingo sponsored by Maple Ridge
Maple Ridge Care Centre will sponsor the bingo games that will
begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. Come join the fun!
Senior health insurance program
The Oasis, with the Senior Health Insurance Program, sponsors
assistance to seniors with their insurance forms. The volunteers are
trained by the Department of Insurance to guide you through problems
involving Medicare, Medicare supplement, long-term care insurance,
retiree health plans, claims processing and appealing denied claims.
The FREE service is offered every Thursday between 2 and 3:30 p.m.

Blood pressure checks
The Oasis offers FREE blood pressure checks every Friday between
10 and 11:30 a.m. No appointment is necessary.
Meeters and Greeters
The Meeters and Greeters group will meet on Monday at the senior
center, beginning at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers visits those
who cannot get out once a month, to add a bright spot in their life.

Services available for caregivers
As a caregiver you may be eligible for services under Title III-E
of the Older Americans Act. A caregiver is defined as individual who
provides informal care to person 60 or older or is raising a
grandchild or someone with a disability. Amanda Harmon, field
coordinator with the Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland, will be
here Monday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to answer any questions you
may have. For more information, you can call the senior center at
732-6132 or the Area Agency on Aging at 800-252-2918.
Tuesday lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Jan. 8 will feature beef tips over
noodles, vegetable, bread and butter, and dessert for $3.75, or if
you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. The deadline for
reservations is noon Monday.
Bingo at the Rec
The special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is
"Monkey Around." For every second, third or fourth purchase of a
paper Monkey Business game, you may apply the computer rebates.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is at 6:50 p.m.
Card winners announced
The card winners for the past several weeks are Alice Petro,
Bernie Haley, Eleanor Barton and Linda Hughes for weekday pinochle
and Irene Tumilty, Ruth Aper, Wilbur Wilmert, Wally Reifsteck and
Charles Anderson for weekend pinochle. Congratulations!
