[January 02, 2008]  CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A woman tried to pass off a marker hidden in her pocket as a gun in an unsuccessful robbery of a Cumberland County convenience store. The clerk noticed the woman's suspicious behavior and wrote down her license plate number before she approached the counter.

She demanded money from the clerk, pointing the pen from inside her pocket to imitate a gun barrel. The clerk denied she had any money, and after a short struggle the woman fled and dropped the marker.

Donna Faye Pectol, 49, was arrested at her home in Roane County and charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery.
