Ruth Haak, first vice president, reported that the
auxiliary membership for 2008 is now 100 percent renewed and
numerical.
Louise Cobb, second vice president and child welfare
chairman, reported on Campbell's labels being sent for educational
equipment.
Doris Langenbahn, third vice president and community
service chairman, reported on member volunteering at the local food
pantry; 22 cards sent for get well, thinking of you and sympathy;
food and paper goods donated to the food pantry by members; large
plastic containers and lids donated to a local campgrounds kitchen
for carryouts; membership applications prepared for and inserted
with other stamped inserts in magazine and newspaper racks at fast
food restaurants; donations to world hunger relief; memorials;
volunteers at the local genealogical and historical society;
visitations to deceased veterans' families, a daughter's wake and an
AMVETS father's wake; collection for Cancer Society; and used
postage stamps for a homeless shelter.
Dorothy Sanders, Americanism chairman, reported on
the presence of members at the "Portrait of a Soldier" dedication
and ceremony with our colors being present; continuing work with the
AMVETS post on the Veterans Honor Roll project; and a book titled "A
Soldier's Christmas" was purchased for forwarding to a soldier in
Iraq for Christmas.
Dorothy Sanders, hospital chairman, reported that a
member continues to volunteer at the local hospital twice a month;
glasses, cases and parts were donated to North Chicago VA Medical
Center; and paperback books were donated to a local nursing home
library.

As scholarship chairman, Ruth Haak read the
department bulletin and introduced a moneymaker for scholarships. It
is a survey-type sheet of questions that are monetary and fun.
The next State Executive Committee meeting will be
Feb. 23. It was explained that for eligible members the rooms will
be paid for, for two nights, Friday and Saturday, but those staying
in the room must answer the Saturday morning roll call and attend
the SEC and mini School of Instructions. Reservations are due before
Feb. 15.
By motions, $10 each was sent to the John Tracy
Clinic and Target Dottie funds. Another motion was for sending $15
to the Illinois Veterans Home at Quincy for a Christmas activities
fund, and later in October 2008 the group sends $10 to the annual
AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 3rd Division party.
The delivery of the annual AMVETS and AMVETS Ladies
Auxiliary Post 71 gifts was announced for Dec. 19.
The next meeting will be at 1417 N. Logan St. on May
19 at 4 p.m.
The total evaluation for the period was $4,775.
