The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Oasis potluck and bingo Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for
the monthly potluck, featuring sloppy joes, salads, special dishes
and wonderful desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage
provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish
to make a donation, the suggested amount for January is $3. Stay for
bingo games sponsored by Christian Village. The monthly drawing is
from the Blue Dog Inn.
Beginners' pinochle
Need to brush up on pinochle? Or you would like to learn how to
play pinochle. You have a chance every Tuesday, beginning at 9:30
a.m., at the senior center.
Book club
The book club at the senior center will meet Monday at 1 p.m.
Come rekindle the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your
thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening to
others. Refreshments provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading.
Veterans Administration
The representative from the Veterans Administration will be here
every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment necessary.
Service is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuesday lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Jan. 15 features tuna casserole, tossed
salad, garlic bread and dessert for $3.75, or if you stay to play
cards, the cost is $3.25. The deadline for reservations is noon
Monday.
Bingo at the Rec
The Tuesday night bingo special at the Lincoln Rec Center is
"Discount Night." Buy any computer and get an Oasis or Coverall game
added free with the following limits: with a $12 computer, up to
four Oasis or Coverall games added to computer free; $16 computer,
up to seven Oasis or Coverall games added to computer free; and $20
computer, up to 10 Oasis or Coverall games added to computer free.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is at 6:50 p.m.
Card winners announced
Mina Bradburn was the winner for weekday pinochle. Weekend
pinochle winners were Ruth Ackerman and Pauline Boward.
