[July 07, 2008]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama took a day off the campaign trail Sunday in Chicago, attending a neighborhood barbecue with his family.

A casually dressed Obama family strolled to a friend's house in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood for the get-together. His wife, Michelle, and their daughters all wore tank tops with shorts and sandals. The Illinois senator dressed down in a white short-sleeved button-up shirt, blue jeans and flip-flops.

Obama's break from the campaign trail came after he spent Saturday in the battleground state of Missouri speaking to a national meeting of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, one of the nation's largest and most politically active black denominations.

He plans to campaign in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday and in Atlanta on Tuesday.
