Mostly sunny skies were forecast for the Mid-Atlantic states, but an area of low pressure was expected to trigger showers and thunderstorms in Florida and up the coast to the Carolinas. The rest of the Southeast was expecting mostly clear skies.
The Northwest was anticipating mostly clear conditions, although Montana and Idaho could see a few showers.
In the Southwest, thunderstorms were likely in the Four Corners region, while clear skies were forecast for most of California.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Wednesday ranged from a low of 36 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 116 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
