[July 18, 2008]  Lincoln Daily News Managing Editor Mike Fak (right) hands the first Close Up check to Norm Newhouse representing the Together for Lincoln organization. The check was awarded after Together for Lincoln's name was pulled from the June Close Up grab bag for a story in one of last month's columns. We hope to see you and your organization in a picture soon. More details on how you can receive a check are at the bottom of this column.

CivicOne good turn deserves another and then another.

Boy Scout Troop 1102 of Lincoln built and donated four picnic tables to the Lincoln YMCA. The tables will be used at the YMCA Activity Center grounds at 721 Wyatt Ave. Now that is one of those good things that scouts do but this was also a gesture of thanks to the YMCA. The Lincoln YMCA recently donated its bus to the scout troop to be used for field trips, camp outs and whatever travels the troop will have in the future. The reason the YMCA believed donating the bus to another worthy cause was more appropriate than trading it in was because the bus had originally been purchased for the Y by Lincoln Elks Lodge 914.

The Lincoln Scout Chapter, chartered through First United Methodist Church is 90 years old and currently has 30 boys and 15 adults. And now they can all go somewhere together.

Don't let your kids park their feet.
