[July 26, 2008]
Over the past few weeks the
Lincoln Police Department has received numerous reports of thefts
from vehicles, garages, sheds, and residences. These
thefts/burglaries usually occur between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
Nearly all occur due to unlocked vehicles, garages, sheds, and
homes. There have been entries into occupied homes during the night.
This can present a dangerous situation for the resident(s) of the
home. To date there have not been any confrontations during the
burglaries.

Citizens should lock the doors to your vehicles, garages, sheds, and
homes. In the event you believe someone is in your home, immediately
call 911. If possible, Do Not Confront the Intruder. Remain quiet
and await the arrival of police. When possible, obtain a
description, including clothing, of the intruder and any suspicious
vehicles.
Watch out for your neighbor and report any suspicious persons or
vehicles in your neighborhood. You can reach the Lincoln Police
Deparment by calling 732-2151 or 911.
