[June 04, 2008]  CHICAGO (AP) -- The jury deliberating federal charges against political fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko in Chicago has returned to work a day after suggesting a verdict could be near.

Rezko has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he schemed to get kickbacks from companies wanting state contracts in Illinois.

The jurors' return to work Tuesday follows their report on Monday that they couldn't agree on one of the 24 counts against Rezko.

They seemed to indicate Monday they might have reached verdicts on the other 23 counts, although they didn't say that specifically.

Rezko has been a major fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama and Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
