A line of storms stretched from New England to Florida and into Texas. Behind this front and accompanying trough of low pressure, dry conditions and seasonal temperatures will persist through the Midwest and Plains.
High pressure bringing clear and dry weather was dominating the weather in the West. Scattered showers and thunderstorms were predicted over the Great Basin and into the Intermountain West.
Low clouds were forecast to keep coastal areas of the West Coast cool, but inland areas will be quite warm once again.
Temperatures in the Northeast will rise into the 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Plains will rise into the 90s, while much of the West will see temperatures well into the 90s and 100s. The hottest area will be in the Southwest, but hot temperatures will extend into the Northwest.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of 37 degrees at Yellowstone Lake, Wyo., to a high of 120 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
