[March 01, 2008]  (AP) One storm was forecast to bring snow to the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Northeast on Saturday, while another was expected to drop rain and snow on the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West.

A low pressure system moving through the Great Lakes could bring up to a foot of snow to the interior of New England. Rain was forecast along its coast. The cold front accompanying the storm was likely to produce showers throughout the Southeast.

A strong Pacific storm was predicted to continue moving through the Northwest and Intermountain West and into the Rockies. Widespread rain and snow was forecast from Washington and Oregon through Idaho, while snow was anticipated in the northern Rockies. Rain was expected as far south as Northern California.

The Northeast was forecast to rise into the 20s and 30s, while the Southeast was to see temperatures in the 60s and 70s. The Plains were expected to see fairly warm temperatures in the 60s, 70s and 80s, while the Northwest was rise into the 30s in higher elevations and into the 50s in lower elevations.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of minus 32 degrees at Berlin, N.H., to a high of 90 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
