Special Guests Share Careers and Hobbies

ZLS Celebrates National Lutheran Schools Week

[March 04, 2008]  Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln is observing National Lutheran Schools Week. Students are celebrating the week with special activities each day. There will also be a community open house on Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Monday was Hobbies and Careers Day, with 30 different classes and workshops available to the students, including folk art, rubber stamping, cartooning, tie dye, producing a TV show, Spanish, French, veterinarian assistant, weaving, building birdhouses, weatherman, airbrush painting, watercolors, scouting, banking, agriculture, sales, candy making, calligraphy, coin collecting, fishing, creative memories, beekeeping, signs of nature, hog farming, hair bow making, painting with acrylics and woodworking.

The student body enjoyed a special presentation by Karen Deal, conductor of the Illinois Symphony. Pictured are winners of the ZLS waltz contest, Katrina Green and Zack Prather, along with Ms. Deal.

Other activities this week:

  • Tuesday -- Moms for Muffins, Autograph Day, Class Color Day

  • Wednesday -- Classes participate in chapel, chapel family activities, Dress-up Day

  • Thursday -- Doughnuts with Dad, Picture Day, time capsule, Crazy Day, History Fair, open house

  • Friday -- DEAR, reading with other classes, movie and popcorn in gym, Pajama Day

  • Sunday -- All-school sing, banner up, bulletin inserts, PowerPoint of week
