Moderate to heavy snow with possible freezing rain and sleet is anticipated across northern New England, and widespread rain and scattered thunderstorms are likely along the coast, including most of the large cities in the Northeast and northern
Mid-Atlantic states.
Snow showers should continue over the lower Great Lakes and eastern Ohio Valley as well as the central Appalachians. Expect precipitation to begin tapering off in the afternoon and at night as the system departs and pushes into Quebec and the Canadian Maritimes.
Continued showers and thunderstorms are expected across southern Florida over the next few days.
In the midsection of the nation, scattered snow showers are expected across the upper Midwest and upper Great Lakes.
Out West, scattered snow showers are also anticipated in the high terrain of the Intermountain West, while the West Coast can expect another sunny and mild day.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Tuesday ranged from a low of minus 16 degrees at International Falls, Minn., to a high of 86 degrees at Marathon, Fla.
