[March 08, 2008]  (AP) A storm was expected to blanket the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and southern New England with snow on Saturday while drenching the East Coast.

Winter storm warnings were issued for western New England, which was forecast to get several inches of snow. Forecasters warned of possible power outages because of accumulating snow and ice. Heavy rain was likely in Florida and along the Mid-Atlantic coast.

In the West, a Pacific storm was expected to produce snow from Idaho through western Colorado as it moves through the Intermountain West and northern Rockies.

The Northeast was forecast to rise into the 30s, 40s and 50s, while the Southeast was to see temperatures in the 50s and 60s. The southern Plains were expected to rise into the 60s and 70s, while the upper Midwest was to see temperatures in the 10s and 20s. The Northwest was predicted to reach the 40s and 50s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of minus 33 degrees at Embarrass, Minn., to a high of 89 degrees at Melbourne, Fla.
