Oasis Update

[March 12, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for the monthly potluck, featuring corned beef and cabbage, salads, special dishes, and wonderful dessert. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount is $3. Stay for bingo games sponsored by Christian Village. The monthly drawing is for Bonanza.

Free tax assistance

The Oasis is offering free tax assistance. Tax services began Feb. 1 and extend through April 11 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Oasis is also assisting with the stimulus package. You can call the senior center for an appointment at 732-6132.

March birthdays

Birthday time! March birthdays will be celebrated Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the senior center. Come and enjoy entertainment, cake and ice cream.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for March 18 will feature pork chops, stuffing, mixed vegetables and dessert. Suggested donation is $3.75; or if you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Bingo at the Rec

The computer special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is "Luck of the Draw." Doors open at 5:30; early bird is 6:50 p.m.

Card winners

The winner for weekday pinochle were Mina Bradburn and Eleanor Barton. The weekend winners for pinochle were Helen Cart and Linda Hughes. For five-in-one, the winners were Ella Lee Graney and Linda Hughes. Congratulations.
