The musical theater workshop, along with a jazz band camp, will be
offered on the Lincoln College campus June 15-22. The workshop will
cover vocal and acting exercises to help young performers with
auditioning tips, improvisational skills and character technique.
Master classes will also be included in the curriculum. The weeklong
residential camp will culminate in a musical theater performance
review. Professional singers, choreographers, actors and directors
from all over the Midwest will share their skills during breakout
sessions. Lincoln College Theatre Division Chair Chris Gray hopes
to bring in student performers with varied backgrounds from music,
theater and dance. "Musical theater requires such a diverse set of
skills," he said. "We hope to help round out performers and give
them new techniques in all areas of musical theatre." Gray said past
participants of the program were satisfied with the various course
offerings and he hopes to continue helping the young actors who
yearn to learn more. "We are looking for young actors, singers and
dancers who are passionate, focused and dedicated to the art of
musical theater," he said. "It's for all levels of performers."
LC music instructor Scott Woger will supervise the jazz band
curriculum.
