Oasis update

[May 21, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor the bingo games at The Oasis on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Oasis closed for Memorial Day

The Oasis will be closed May 26 to observe Memorial Day. Activities will resume the following day. The regular hours for the senior center are 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Veterans Administration

The representative for the Veterans Administration will return to the senior center May 27, with hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservation necessary -- first-come, first-served basis.

Pharmacy

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for May 27 features grilled pork steak, potato salad, mixed vegetables, bread and butter, and dessert, for a suggested donation of $3.75. If you stay and play cards, the cost of the meal is $3.25. The deadline to make reservations is 4 p.m. Friday.

Bingo at the Rec

The computer special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is: "Buy one $20 computer and get $12 computer free." Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is at 6:50.

Card winners

The winner for weekday pinochle was Helen Cart. The weekend winners were Marjorie Reiners and Joyce Voyles. The winners at five-in-one were Ella Lee Graney and Dorothy Oltmanns.
