[May 27, 2008]  City of Lincoln annual report for the wastewater treatment facility and sewer management, as submitted by Dave Kitzmiller, Environmental Management Corp.:

Collection System
  • 4 forcemain breaks were repaired

  • A cross connection between the storm sewer and combined sewer flowing to the Union St. lift station was eliminated

  • A sewer collapse at Union and Clinton was repaired

  • The Department received 990 utility locating requests, averaging 82 requests per month

  • 89,196 feet of sewer line was cleaned

  • 4,178 feet of sewer line was cleaned

  • A modular aluminum trench shoring system was purchased

Misc

Treatment Facility

  • The facility's NPDES permit was renewed

  • The City received 39.5 inches of precipitation

  • Facility treated just shy of 1.5 billion gallons of wastewater and just under 104 MG of storm water

  • Average a 96% removal rate for CBOD5

  • Average a 89% removal rate for TSS

  • Average a 99% removal rate for Nh3-N

  • There were 9 CSOs from Union St

  • There were 12 CSOs from the WWTF

  • 4 new CSO programs were drafted

Furniture

  • The lab building's roof was replaced

  • The diffusers in both sludge storage tanks were replaced

  • The bar screen was repaired

  • One half of the electrical capacitors and clamping devices were installed

  • The Kubota lawn tractor was replaced

  • A pickup truck was purchased

Water

Safety

  • EMC held a company-wide , 10 hour OSHA training class

  • Performed monthly training on 19 topics

  • EMC has worked 9.5 years without a lost time accident
