Attack ad inadvertently targets wrong candidate

[November 01, 2008]  NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- One of the latest political attack ads is a real blast from the past. Republican state Sen. Diane Black's re-election campaign says it inadvertently ran a repeat of a 2004 ad from when the Gallatin Republican was running against then-incumbent Jo Ann Graves.

Black's current Democratic opponent in Senate District 18 in suburban Nashville is Jim Hawkins. Graves has since been elected mayor of Gallatin and is not running for office this year.

Graves and Democratic officials have demanded an apology.

Black laughed off the mix-up and said it was unintentional. She later called Graves to express her regret that the wrong tapes were submitted to television stations.
