[November 01, 2008]  (AP)  Wet weather was to continue over the West Coast on Saturday, with widespread scattered showers expected over Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Higher elevations were to see two or three inches of rain, while possible thunderstorm development was likely in some areas as well. The Pacific Northwest was to see highs in the 50s and 60s, while southern California was to reach into the 70s.

The Southwest was to remain hot and dry.

Meanwhile, mild weather and warmer temperatures were expected in the Northern Plains and Midwest, as warmer air pushed in from the South. Highs were to reach into the 60s in most areas.

In the East, a cold front over New England was expected to sweep down the East Coast throughout the day, bringing partly cloudy skies and cooler conditions. Highs in New England were to reach into the 40s while the Mid-Atlantic was to see highs in the 60s and 70s.

The Southeast and Lower Mississippi Valley regions were to see areas of showers and possible thunderstorm activity. Breezy conditions were to persist with gusts up to 25 mph. High temperatures were to range within the 70s and 80s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of 15 degrees at Kremmling, Colo., to a high of 93 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
