[November 06, 2008]  BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A Boise man has been charged with four counts of felony burglary after police accused him of stealing more than $1,000 worth of meat from a local grocery store.

Boise police officials said the man stole the meat from an Albertsons grocery on four separate visits since Sept. 6. The investigation began when loss prevention officials at the store contacted police to say they'd seen the man ham-handed, filling up a shopping basket with packaged meat and walking out without paying.

Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said Wednesday that the police report did not indicate the specific type or cut of meat.

The 45-year-old man was expected to make his first court appearance this week. Felony burglary is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
