[November 07, 2008] (AP) More heavy snow and strong winds were forecast Friday across the northern Plains, where a blizzard warning was in effect. Parts of the Dakotas could see up to 6 inches of snow, though 1 to 4 inches were likely in most places.

Windy conditions and scattered flurries were expected in Nebraska, while northwestern Iowa and western Minnesota were likely to see a little snow and freezing rain.

Showers were forecast from the upper Great Lakes through the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and into Mississippi and Alabama, with thunderstorms possible in the upper Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley. Georgia was likely to see partly cloudy skies, while mostly clear conditions were predicted for Florida and the Carolinas.

Wet conditions were forecast for the Northeast, with rain expected across most of New England and parts of the mid-Atlantic.

Wet weather was also likely in the Pacific Northwest, where coastal flooding was possible, along with Montana and Idaho. Clear, dry conditions were forecast across the Southwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 1 degree at Monarch Pass, Colo., to a high of 102 degrees at Imperial, Calif.
