Suicide bomber kills 8, wounds 7 in Iraq

[November 08, 2008]  BAGHDAD (AP) -- Iraqi police say a suicide bomber has slammed his car into a police checkpoint in western Anbar province, killing eight people and wounding seven policemen.

A security official says the attack Saturday occurred on the highway east of Baghdad, near the former Sunni insurgent stronghold of Ramadi.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information to the media.
