[November 10, 2008]  (AP)  Cool, arctic air was to flow across the Great Lakes and into the Northeast on Monday, triggering lake-effect rain and snow showers with ice over both regions. Temperatures were to be in the 30s to 40s in the north and 40s to 50s in the south.

The majority of the West was also expecting a cool and showery Monday. Showers were forecast for the Pacific Northwest Coast, and rain and snow showers were expected across the Northern and Central Rockies. The Northwest and Great Basin were to see temperatures in the 40s to 60s.

The Southwest and Southern Plains, meanwhile, were to see scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms throughout the day. Stronger storms with heavier rains were expected to flare up across Texas. The Southwest was to reach into the 50s to 70s, while the Southern Plains was to rise into the 60s to 80s.

The Southeast was to remain dry and fair, with temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from minus 1 degree at Minot, N.D., to 89 degrees at Hearne, Texas.
