[October 20, 2008]  The following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending Oct. 18:

RestaurantBAR MAGNETS 

Home Science Tools is recalling Alnico Bar Magnets sold nationwide from May 2008 to September 2008. Surface paints on the magnets contain excessive levels of lead. 

This recall involves Alnico 3-inch long bar magnets. The magnets are painted red and blue, and were originally packaged as a pair or as a component of a science kit. The magnets were sold as item number MG-BAR3AL.

WIRELESS HEADSET BATTERIES 

GN Netcom Inc. is recalling GN9120 Wireless Headsets sold nationwide from January 2005 to September 2008. An internal short circuit can cause the lithium-ion polymer batteries to overheat, posing a fire hazard. 

This recall involves GN9120 wireless headsets with ATL lithium-ion polymer batteries. The headsets are intended primarily for professional use in offices and call centers. "GN Netcom" or "GN9120" is printed on the base station and headset. The affected batteries have part number 603028 and have a white plastic enclosure. The batteries are labeled "Made by ATL (Amperex Technology Ltd.)" and "(ATL P/N 603028)." Batteries sold as a replacement part are labeled "GN9120 battery replacement kit."

PORTABLE GENERATORS

General Power Products LLC is recalling Portable Generators sold in Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Ohio and Texas from June 2008 to 2008. The generator's fuel valve can be damaged by the cover plate during shipment and cause a fuel leak and fuel spillage during use, posing a fire hazard. 

This recall includes the General Power Products 6000 Watt portable generator and the Poulan Pro 6000 Watt portable generator with serial numbers 060400483 through 060600725. The serial number is stamped on the engine block which is located on the front of the engine below the generator's control panel. "General Power Products" and "6000 Generator" are printed on the side of the General Power Products generator. "Poulan Pro" and "6000 watts" are printed on the side of the Poulan Pro generator. 

Consumers should contact General Power Products at (877) 428-3769 24 hours a day, seven days a week to determine if the generator's fuel valve is damaged and, if it is, to receive a free repair kit and instructions or visit www.generalpowerproducts.com. More info at www.recalls.org.

BATTERY CHARGERS 

Fujifilm U.S.A. Inc. is recalling BC-50 Battery Chargers sold nationwide from March 2008 to September 2008. The plastic portion of the unit's power plug can crack or detach, posing an electrical shock hazard. 

The recalled BC-50 battery chargers were included with the Fujifilm FinePix F100fd digital cameras and are identified by the production lot codes "WCAA" and "WCAB", which can be located on the back of the battery charger unit, in the lower, right-hand corner. The battery chargers were also sold separately as an optional accessory for the FinePix F100fd and F50fd digital cameras and have production lot codes of "WBAD" and "WFBA".

TOY BOATS 

Dollar General Merchandising Inc. is recalling Battery Operated Toy "Speed Boats" sold nationwide at Dollar General stores from March 2008 to July 2008.

The two battery terminals can come into contact with each other, causing the battery to overheat, posing a burn hazard. 

The recalled toy speed boats are lightweight plastic toy boats supported by an inflatable hull with "outboard" motors on them. The motor uses two AA batteries. The toy boat measures about 12 inches long by 8 inches wide and comes in various colors and designs.

Sold at: Dollar General nationwide from March 2008 through July 2008 for $3 each. 

Consumers should and return the boats to the store where purchased for a refund or replacement product.

BABY WALKERS 

My Way Corp. is recalling Baby Walkers sold in Puerto Rico from November 2004 to March 2008. The walkers violate the baby walker voluntary standard and can fit through a standard doorway and are not designed to stop at the edge of a step. Babies using these walkers can be seriously injured or killed. 

The recalled walkers were sold for babies 6 months and older. The walkers were sold in the following colors: pink, red, green, blue, and ivory. The walkers have an activity tray with a steering wheel and other toys. "My Way Corp" is printed on a sticker on the front of the walker. 

Consumers should return the walkers to the store where purchased for a full refund.

PORTABLE CRIBS

Playkids U.S.A. is recalling convertible cribs sold in New York from March 2007 to September 2008.  The sides of the convertible crib are made of a mesh that expands, creating a gap between the mattress and the side through which an infant can slip. This poses suffocation and entrapment hazards.

This recall involves the Playkids U.S.A. convertible crib/playpen/bassinet/bed with model number PLK-909. "Playkids U.S.A." can be found on the packaging and on a label sewn into the side of the crib. The model number can be found on the packaging.
