NTSB: Video answers key question in copter crash

[October 23, 2008]  AURORA (AP) -- Security video shows that a suburban Chicago radio tower's lights were on just before a fatal medical helicopter crash, and that answers an important question for authorities.

John Brannen of the National Transportation Safety Board says the video from a train station parking lot shows the tower's lights flashing before last week's crash in Aurora.

Brannen says the flashing stops around the time that the Air Angels helicopter clipped a guy wire and crashed. All four people aboard -- three crew members and a 1-year-old patient -- were killed.

With no sign that the aircraft had engine problems, a key question had been whether the tower's lights were on.
