Oasis update

[September 03, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Light lunch bingo sponsored by Maple Ridge

Maple Ridge Care Centre will sponsor the light lunch bingo at The Oasis on Thursday, beginning at noon. Bingo will start at 1 p.m.

Free blood pressure checks

The senior center offers free checking of blood pressure every Friday morning between 10 and 11:30. No appointment necessary.

Book club

The book club at the senior center will meet at 1 p.m. Monday. Come rekindle the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening to others. Refreshments provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Sept. 9 features biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and fruit for a suggested donation of $3.75. If you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. Deadline for reservations is Monday noon.

Bingo at the Rec

The special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is "Monkey Around." Buy two Monkey Business games and get a $20 computer for $15. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is at 6:50 p.m.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Larry Van Bibber and Betty Oltmanns. The weekend winners were Ruth Ackerman and Linda Hughes. The winners at five-in-one were Linda Hughes and Betty Burger.
