Tropical Storm Hanna was expected to gradually increase in speed as it continues moving toward the northwest. Hanna was expected to turn to the north and move near the Southeast
coast by late Friday evening, bringing heavy rains and high winds.
The Mid-Atlantic and New England states will begin to see very heavy rainfall and possible flooding as rains spread northward by Saturday.
The Northeast will see dry and warm weather on Friday. A ridge of high pressure moving across the region will allow fair conditions to persist throughout the day.
To the west, an area of low pressure was expected to trigger showers and thunderstorms across the central Plains. Along the West Coast, high pressure and offshore flow will allow for sunny and warm weather on Friday.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Thursday ranged from a low of 24 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 114 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
