The National Weather Service in
Lincoln has issued a flash flood warning until 5:15 p.m. for Logan
County, southeastern Tazewell County, southwestern McLean County,
southeastern Mason County, Menard County and northwestern Sangamon
County in central Illinois, along with northeastern Morgan County
and southeastern Cass County in west-central Illinois. |
At 2:14 p.m., trained weather spotters reported flash flooding from
a thunderstorm over the warned area. Doppler radar has estimated 1
to 3 inches of rain since 10 a.m. Thunderstorms with excessive
rainfall will continue across the area. Rainfall amounts will likely
range from 2 to 4 inches by 5 p.m. These rainfall amounts will
likely produce flash flooding.
Some locations that will experience flooding are Lincoln,
Atlanta, Armington, Bloomington, Mason City, Arenzville, Ashland,
Athens, Carlock, Chandlerville, Jacksonville and Virginia.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
Report flash flooding to your local emergency manager or the
nearest law enforcement agency for relay to the National Weather
Service.
