[September 20, 2008]  AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio police department picked up an unusual item for the lost-and-found: a goat. Akron police discovered a male goat on a state highway early Friday after people called to report what they thought was a small pony in the road.

InsurancePolice took the animal in when they had trouble reaching animal control or the Humane Society. Lt. Rick Edwards said officers filled out the usual paperwork for found property, normally used for something such as a woman's purse.

Those items are typically tagged, so Edwards said he was surprised the officers didn't put a tag on the goat's horns.

Later in the morning, the Summit County Animal Control shelter took the goat. Edwards said if its owner can't be found, a farm will be asked to accept it.
