[September 24, 2008]
Lincoln Public Library District and Heartland
Community College are partnering to offer a free educational webinar,
"Live Homework Help 101." A webinar is a computer Internet/phone
connection where participants have communication with the presenter,
who is in another location. Teachers, school administrators, school
librarians and superintendents are encouraged to attend this
exciting informational workshop about the free online tutoring
service offered every day through the library's website.

The event will focus on
information concerning online tutoring basics, explanations of
tutoring methodology, the tutor certification process, a live
demonstration of the service and best practices for student usage.
The host will be Joan Roony, vice president of Tutor.com, the
company that supplies the tutoring services. She is a former teacher
and has been managing the quality of online tutoring for 10 years.
"Live Homework Help is a service the library has provided since
January," said Louella Moreland, youth services librarian.
"Teachers, superintendents, and students who have accessed the site
through our library website using their Lincoln Library card number
have given us great feedback about their experiences. We believe it
is an exceptional tool for students who have homework questions once
in a while or every day. Not all students can come to the library
for tutoring help after school, due to transportation issues or
parent schedules. This service reaches anyone with an Internet
connection and a Lincoln Library card!"
