CHAMPAIGN -- Illini women's
cross country freshman Kristin Sutherland was named
co-Big Ten Runner of Week for her performance this past weekend at
the Illinois
Intercollegiate Championships, the conference office announced

In her collegiate debut for the Orange and Blue, Sutherland led
the field of 234
runners with a first-place 5K time of 17:47, paving the way for the
Illini to take
the team title for the second consecutive year. The Illini defeated
24 other teams
for the victory with a point total of 37.
The last Illini to earn Big Ten Runner of the Week honors was Angela
Bizzarri on
Sept. 26, 2006.
After having this weekend off, Illinois will travel to South Bend on Oct. 3 to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational at 1 p.m.
