"For Illinois families, the results of the national economic
crisis can be seen here at home as areas like Rockford, Chicago,
Kankakee and Danville reached new highs in unemployment. Yet even in
the face of soaring unemployment, the Illinois House has stalled the
jobs plan that would put hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans to
work. I continue to push for passage of the jobs plan here in
Illinois, but our workers also need assistance from Congress and the
president. I urge those in Washington to move swiftly to address the
country's financial emergency, but also to remember those at home
who have lost their jobs and their homes and are struggling to make
ends meet," Blagojevich said.
