Neb. man gets 295 days in jail in bleach assault

[April 01, 2009]  LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- A judge sentenced a man to 295 days in jail on Monday for pouring bleach on a woman during an argument last year.

DonutsDarnell McCray pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of domestic assault and child neglect. According to police, McCray and the woman were arguing on Nov. 9, and McCray grabbed a gallon jug of bleach and poured it over her head.

The woman suffered chemical burns and eye irritation. McCray was also treated for eye irritation.

Police said a 2-year-old boy in the home became sick from the smell.
