[April 10, 2009]  BEVERLY, Mass. (AP) -- A Beverly liquor store is worried that hard times might keep many costumers out of the store.

So, now ChrisPy's liquor store offers home delivery. Owner Chris Palazola said he began offering home delivery last month to boost business during the slow economy. For $5 ($2.50 for senior citizens), he'll take your order and deliver it to your house in his own car.

Palazola also brings along a handheld device to scan customer's driver's license for buyer's age.

Frank Anzalotti, executive director of the Massachusetts Package Stores Association, said home delivery is a rarity among liquor stores.

Palazola said the smallest order so far has been for a 12-pack of beer, but he'd deliver a nip if someone wants it.
