[April 15, 2009]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- An Iraqi-born Dutch citizen faces sentencing in what prosecutors say is the United States' first criminal prosecution of attacks targeting Americans in Iraq.

Wesam al-Delaema could get up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Wednesday by a federal judge for planting roadside bombs in Iraq to kill Americans.

Al-Delaema pleaded guilty to planting remote-control explosives along a road used by U.S. troops. He videotaped himself planting the explosives, which did not cause any deaths.

As part of an agreement that brought al-Delaema to the United States two years ago to face trial, he will be returned to the Netherlands to serve out his prison term.

A Dutch judge will decide how much time he should serve.
