[August 10, 2009]  According to Recalls.org, a nonprofit organization, the following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending Aug. 8: 

BABY HAMMOCKS 

Nova Natural Toys & Crafts LLC is recalling Yayita Baby Hammocks sold nationwide from October 2007 to October 2008. The hammock can flip over, posing a serious fall hazard and strangulation hazard to infants who become entrapped in the seat's restraint straps while upside down. 

The recalled baby hammock is a cream-colored canvas and hangs from a wooden pole. "La Siesta" is printed on a tag located below the restraint straps. Model number YABN-1 is printed on a white tag sewn into the hammock's side seam.

ADDITIONAL BABY HAMMOCKS 

Kaplan Early Learning Company is recalling La Siesta Yayita Baby Hammocks sold nationwide from July 2005 to August 2008. The hammock can flip over, posing a serious fall hazard and strangulation hazard to infants who become entrapped in the seat's restraint straps while upside down. 

The recalled baby hammock is a cream-colored canvas and hangs from a wooden pole. "La Siesta" is printed on a tag located below the restraint straps. Model number YABP-1 is printed on a white tag sewn into the hammock's side seam.

PLANT STANDS 

Ross Stores Inc. is recalling Marble Top Plant Stands sold at Ross Stores nationwide from March 2009 to June 2009. The marble top of the plant stand can detach from the base and fall onto consumers, posing a risk of injury. 

The plant stands have gray marble tops and black wrought iron bases. They were sold in three sizes: small 24 inches tall, medium 28 inches tall, and large 32 inches tall. 

Consumers should return the plant stands to any Ross Store for a full refund.

EDGE TRIMMERS 

Black & Decker Inc. is recalling Black & Decker GH1000 Grasshog XP String Trimmer/Edgers sold nationwide from November 2005 to January 2007. The trimmer/edger's spool, spool cap and pieces of trimmer string can come loose during use and become airborne projectiles, posing a serious laceration hazard to the user, as well as bystanders. The trimmer/edgers can also overheat, posing a burn hazard. 

Water

The Black & Decker GH1000 Grasshog XP String Trimmers/Edgers are electric-powered. Trimmer/edgers with date codes 200546 through 200645 (representing manufacture dates of November 14, 2005 through November 6, 2006) are included in this recall. The date code is located on the underside of the trimmer/edger's handle.

POLARIS VEHICLES 

Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling 2009 Polaris Ranger "Crew" and "6x6" Side-by-Side Recreational Vehicles sold nationwide from December 2008 to July 2009.  An electrical short can lead to overheating in the rear tail light wiring harnesses, posing a fire hazard. 

The recall involves certain 2009 Polaris Ranger side-by-side, off-road vehicles. The model and serial number identification decal is located under the front seat, on the right-side seat support. Model names and numbers can be found at www.recalls.org

BASKETBALL HOOPS 

Russell Brands LLC is recalling Spalding In-Ground Basketball Hoops sold nationwide from January 2009 to July 2009. The bolts at the base can fail, causing the unit to fall. This poses a risk of serious injury. 

This recall involves Spalding in-ground basketball hoops with a supporting pole and a clear backboard. A list of the models can be found at www.recalls.org

PAPER TOWEL DISPENSERS 

Global Plastics Ltd. is recalling Bay West & Hillyard Hybrid Wave N Cut Paper Towel Dispensers sold to commercial customers nationwide from February 2009 to May 2009. The dispenser's electric board can overheat posing a fire hazard. 

The recalled product is a Baywest & Hillyard Hybrid Wave N Cut hybrid paper towel dispenser. The product can operate in either a mechanical or electronic mode.

STAIR GATES 

Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gates sold nationwide from January 2005 to July 2009. The hinges that hold the stair gate in place can break, posing a fall hazard to children if the gate is placed at the top of the stairs. 

The recall involves the Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gate with model number 42111, which is printed on a sticker under the handle panel. The gates, which were manufactured before December 20, 2008, are white metal with a gray handle and a motion sensor nightlight that illuminates on approach.

DOORWAY JUMPERS 

Graco Children's Products Inc. is recalling Jump ‘n Jive™ Doorway Jumpers sold nationwide from April 2009 to July 2009. The recalled doorway jumpers include detachable toys that are attached to the jumper straps with strips of hook and loop fabric. The strips of fabric are not permanently attached to the toys and can become detached during use, posing a choking hazard. 

The recalled doorway jumper includes an interactive musical dance mat and two detachable toys. The model number, 1755544, appears on the carton UPC label and on the underside of the jumper tray. 

Consumers should remove and discard the detachable toys and call Graco at (800) 345-4109 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for a replacement set of toys or visit www.gracobaby.com. More info at www.recalls.org

BOOSTER SEATS SOLD AT TARGET 

Target is recalling Circo Booster Seats sold nationwide at Target stores from December 2008 to June 2009. The booster seat restraint buckle can open unexpectedly, allowing a child to fall from the chair and be injured. 

This recall involves Circo booster seats with manufacture date codes XJ0811, XJ0812, XJ0901, and XJ0902. The manufacture date code is printed on the backside of the seat next to the consumer warning information. "Circo" can be found on a label located in the front of the seat. 

Consumers should return the seats to the nearest Target store to receive a full refund.
