[August 21, 2009]  MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A public visitation and memorial for guitar virtuoso and inventor Les Paul is being held in Milwaukee.

Paul's closed casket will be available for viewing for four hours Friday at a museum along the shores of Lake Michigan about 15 miles from the city where Paul was born and grew up.

He died Aug. 13 in White Plains, N.Y., at the age of 94.

The visitation at Discovery World museum marks the public's only chance to pay respects to Paul. His burial later Friday at Waukesha's Prairie Home Cemetery is private, as was his funeral in New York City on Wednesday.

Paul is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
