Speaking
of Zion Lutheran, the public is invited to the annual
drive-through live Nativity at Zion Lutheran School on Saturday and
Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Families from Zion Lutheran School will portray people involved
in the biblical account of the Christmas story. Live animals and a
wooden stable will add to the effect.
There is no admission fee, but guests are encouraged to bring
food for the Lincoln/Logan Food Pantry. Zion Lutheran School is
located at 1600 Woodlawn Road, across from Walmart.
Morgan Litterly has been named November
Senior-of-the-Month at Mount Pulaski High School. Morgan is the
daughter of Randy and Sally Litterly of Elkhart.
Morgan is a high honor roll student and a member of National
Honor Society, Spanish Club and the yearbook staff. She was named
Logan County Student-of-the-Month in September 2009.
Morgan played volleyball for four years, and during that time the
Toppers won the state championship in 2007 and finished second in
the state in 2009.
In the community, Morgan is a member of St. Patrick's youth
group. She has participated in service trips to Ohio, South
Carolina, Colorado and Tennessee through Catholic Heart Workcamp.
Morgan plans to attend a four-year university, followed by law
school.
The Senior-of-the-Month program is co-sponsored by Johnson's Food
Center of Mount Pulaski and Mount Pulaski Pharmacy. Monthly winners
receive $100 savings bonds and are eligible to compete for the
$1,000 Senior-of-the-Year award.

The
Lincoln Community High School Band will present their
Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the high
school. The concert is free and open to the public. The band is
under the direction of David Swaar.

Illinois Drug Free Youth, is selling 2009 Christmas
ornaments for a fundraiser. There are only 100 available, so you
must act quickly before they are gone. People interested in
purchasing one or several can contact Camille Springer at
cspringer@chestnut.org.
Todd Poelker also has some available at the high school. The
ornaments are $5 and come in red or green with the Lincoln Railerman
logo and "2009" printed on them in gold.
Lincoln
Youth Wrestling competed in their own Lincoln Railer Rumble
wrestling tournament Sunday, Dec. 6, at Lincoln Community High
School along with 350 youth wrestlers from all over central Illinois
In the 6-and-under division, taking home first-place trophies
were Tony Gandolfi, Austin O'Donoghue and Cade Tanner. Mason Farris
came in at third place.
In the 7- and 8-year-old division, Austin Beard and Nolan Yates
took first place, Collin Cogdill got second, Trevor Bree and Roux
Starr took third place, and Tyler Werth took fourth.
In the 9- and 10-year-old division, Issac Dueringer, Ethan Goody
and Jarrett Poole placed first. Austin Dennison and Anthony Withers
took third, Alex Bergin took fourth, and Michael O'Donoghue took
fifth.
In the 11- and 12-year-old division, William Bergin got fourth.
LYW will be headed to Springfield Sunday to compete in the
Springfield Capital Classic at Springfield Southeast High School.
