The Upper Midwest was to see either snow or a wintery mix. The Central Plains was to get partly clear skies. Clouds were expected across the Southern Plains for the first half of the day.
The Ohio Valley, western Pennsylvania and New York were to see clouds. The rest of the Northeast was expecting mostly sunny skies to start the day, with clouds and snow showers moving in later.
The Southeast was to be mostly clear.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of minus 20 degrees at Whitefield, N.H., to a high of 87 degrees at Pecos, Texas.
