[February 10, 2009]  BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A western Michigan man says a stranger has returned his class ring about 40 years after he last saw it.

InsuranceRichard Parker, 61, said he may have misplaced the ring shortly after getting married. He got it back last week. Parker is a 1966 graduate of Whitehall High School.

He married soon after graduating, and the class ring was boxed up and forgotten.

The stranger recently came across it while helping to clean his mother's home.

The ring has Parker's initials, school name and graduation year. The stranger contacted Whitehall Public Schools, determined that Parker was the owner and tracked him down.

Parker said he once may have rented from the man's father.
