Elsewhere in the Southwest, the mountains in eastern and northern California will receive a few inches of snow, while heavy rain is anticipated in the lower elevations across the northern half of the state.
Low pressure will provide wet weather for the Northwest. The mountains in Idaho and Wyoming could see several inches of snow, while areas of snow showers and minor snow accumulation are expected across the rest of the Northwest.
The storm will reach the Plains sometime in the afternoon. Snow showers are anticipated across the
northern Plains and showers and thunderstorms were predicted across parts of the
central and southern Plains and into the Mississippi Valley.
A mix of rain and snow is anticipated along the southern portion of the Midwest, while snow is likely over Minnesota and Wisconsin. Several inches of snow are possible across Wisconsin and parts of Michigan. The western portion of the Plains and most of the Mississippi Valley can also expect high winds throughout the day.
High pressure will provide mostly clear skies over the East. However, clouds and precipitation will begin to work their way into the
Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Southeast by the end of the day.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Monday ranged from a low of minus 17 degrees at Williston, N.D., to a high of 80 degrees at Fort Myers, Fla.
