As the system exits to the northeast, scattered lake-effect snow showers were forecast across areas of the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley. Blustery winds and high wind gusts will create periods of blowing snow, lowered visibilities and cold temperatures.
In the West, a weakening Pacific storm system will produce unsettled weather across California and areas of the Great Basin.
The Pacific Northwest should also expect showery weather on Monday. Another Pacific storm system located off the Oregon coast will trigger bands of precipitation across Oregon and Washington.
The remainder of the nation should expect fair weather activity due to dominating areas of high pressure. It will be sunny and warm in the Plains and sunny over the Southeast.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of minus 11 degrees at Morris, Minn., to a high of 83 degrees at Tucson, Ariz.
