Lincoln Police Department reports for Tuesday, Feb. 24

Accident Feb. 6 at 9 p.m.; 100 Campus View Drive

--Zoe B. Harris, female, 19, of Greenville; 2002 Saturn SC1

Not on scene. Harris said the accident happened between 6 p.m. Feb. 6 and noon Feb. 7 at the Lincoln Christian College parking lot.

Accident on Feb. 16 at 8:07 a.m.; 204 Woodlawn Road, 84 feet west of Grand Avenue

--Mario L. Bonaparte, male, 42, of Lincoln; 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup

--Robert D. Tucker, male, 39, of Lincoln; 1995 Ford Econoline E350

--Francis P. Bristow, male, 63, of Lincoln; 2000 General Motors Sierra 4x2

Bonaparte said he was eastbound on Woodlawn Road in the outside lane of traffic and drove into a large amount of water and ice, causing him to slide into the westbound lane of traffic, where he was struck. His vehicle traveled north after being struck and stopped facing south, striking the garage door of 204 Woodlawn Road.

Exterminator

Tucker said he was westbound on Woodlawn Road in the inside lane of traffic. He saw Bonaparte sliding on the roadway and was unable to stop.

Bristow said he was westbound on Woodlawn Road in the outside lane of traffic near Tucker and did not see Bonaparte until he was in front of him.

One witness said he was behind Bonaparte eastbound on Woodlawn and saw him in the outside lane of traffic, driving into the water and ice. The witness thought Bonaparte appeared to accelerate, then slid on the ice on the roadway.

A second witness said she was westbound on Woodlawn Road and saw Bonaparte go into the water and ice. She thought Bonaparte was traveling faster than the posted speed limit. The second witness also said she saw in her rearview mirror that Bonaparte slid into the westbound lane and was struck by the other vehicles.

No injuries were reported at the time of the accident. All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

  • Senters, Michael D., 49-year-old male, Beaver Dam, Ky.; arrested Feb. 23 on Short 11th at Madison Street; failure to appear -- DeWitt County; $10,000 or 10 percent; failure to appear -- DeWitt County: $20,000 or 10%, no bond
