[February 25, 2009]  CONCORD, Calif. (AP) -- A woman who just lost her job would also be out thousands of dollars if it weren't for the honesty of a good Samaritan.

Police said a man who found a bank bag full of money and checks in a shopping center parking lot over the weekend flagged down police and turned it over.

Officers were able to track down the woman and return her lost money.

The bag contained $4,000 in cash and more than $20,000 in checks.

She told police the bag had fallen out of her purse at Kmart on Saturday night.
