[January 10, 2009]  (AP)  Active weather was to move into the eastern third of the country on Saturday. Heavy snow was forecast for the Ohio Valley and southern Great Lakes. Rain and some freezing rain were also likely through the Southeast and into the Tennessee Valley. Snow was to develop through New England. Various winter storm warnings were in effect for this storm from the Ohio Valley through southern New England.

CivicIn the West, Washington was to receive precipitation once again on Saturday. More flooding was possible as areas that have been flooded for the past week again were to experience significant precipitation.

In the southern Rockies, high-elevation snow was expected in Colorado and New Mexico. Various winter weather advisories were in effect for New Mexico due to this system.

Temperatures were to rise into the 10s, 20s and 30s in the Northeast; 60s and 70s in the Southeast; 10s and 20s in the Upper Midwest; and 30s and 40s in the Northwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of minus 29 degrees at International Falls, Minn., to a high of 87 degrees at Alice, Texas.
