[January 13, 2009]  Experts estimate that more than 44.4 million Americans are caregivers to adult friends or family members. Caring for a Loved one with Dementia, will be the topic covered at the Christian Village in Lincoln on January 15th at 6 p.m. Located in the senior apartment building at 1500 7th Street.

Pam Mulford Hill, LPN, dementia specialist, will offer tips and advice to help caregivers provide better care for their loved ones. "Caregivers have difficulty understanding the disease and how to continue to provide a quality life for their loved one. Mary Todd Lincoln's Luncheon and Style Show will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2009, at the Maple Club at 1458 State Route 121, Lincoln, Ill. The event starts at noon. The event is being held to honor Mary Todd Lincoln/Elizabeth Keckly and women of the Lincoln area. The clothing will be period attire, including old wedding dresses, as well as fashions supplied by Wal-Mart, Goody's, as well as a Mary Todd Lincoln Hallmark display. The price is $15 and you may pay at the door. You can call 735-3308 for reservations.

The Humane Society of Logan County is having a chili luncheon on January 17, 2009. You can get chili, crackers, beverage & homemade dessert all for only $5.00. Hot dogs are only $1.00. The supper will be at the Lincoln Community High School from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and all proceeds will go to benefit the Humane Society of Logan County's programs.

YMCA Party Night is an exciting, fun and safe way for your children to spend a Friday night. You may still register your 1st-4th grader for this "Disney" themed party which will be held from on January 16th from 7–9 p.m. at the YMCA Activity Center. The fee for this party is $13 for current YMCA members and $15 for non-Y members. We will play games, have contests, prizes, and serve pizza and drinks as well. The New Holland Volunteer Firemen on January 17, 2009 will have a soup supper at the New Holland Fire Department from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. The public is invited.
